Giant’s Causeway is a UNESCO World Heritage site situated on the County Antrim coast of Northern Ireland. Around 40,000 mostly hexagonal basalt columns make up the site, which is one of Northern Ireland’s most popular tourist attractions. According to legend, the columns are the remains of a causeway built by one giant in Northern Ireland to reach another in Scotland, but scientists believe that they are the result of an ancient volcanic eruption.
